There are more boys than girls diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder. However, that does not necessarily mean autism is more common among boys. New research indicates that because the diagnostic critera for the disorder has been developed based on how symptoms present themselves in boys, many young girls and women run the risk of going unnoticed and never being diagnosed.
The pages of the zine are in two different sizes, the smaller size containing information and the bigger one dedicated to personal notes and observations from inside the spectrum. The information is kept clear and simple to eliminate the need to ”read between the lines”, as this is something people on the autism spectrum might sometimes struggle with.
